The TACTE Standards Committee has been charged with keeping our membership informed on four major topics: Common Core Standards, the revision of InTASC Standards, the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC), and the merger of NCATE/TEAC. The committee intends to pass along information through timely e-mails and by utilizing the TACTE website. Below you will find links to information relevant to each topic. Common Core Standards: The Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO) and the National Governors Association (NGA) have released a set of Common Core Standards which were adopted by the state in July. The link below to the Achieving the Common Core provides up to date information on the roll out. http://www.achieve.org/achievingcommoncore InTASC Standards: The original INTASC Standards written in 1992 have been revised. The InTASC Model Core Teaching Standards will be released at the end of April in conjunction with the SCEE Summit and the National Teacher Recognition Week. http://www.ccsso.org/Resources/Programs/Interstate_Teacher_Assessment_Consortium_(InTASC).html PDF of new standards: http://www.ccsso.org/Documents/2010/Model_Core_Teaching_Standards_DRAFT_FOR_PUBLIC_COMMENT_2010.pdf PARCC or Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers: The partnership of 26 states including Tennessee has been awarded $170 million in Race to the Top money to develop a shared set of K-12 assessments. The proposal calls for IHEs to help in the design and implementation of these new assessments. Achieve has been chosen to coordinate the work of the Partnership and details are available at their website. News 7/7/11 PARC State Consortium Scales Back Common Test Design. Citing cost, among other factors, PARCC drops two of the four tests that would have been given to students throughout the year. See Article Below NCATE/TEAC Merger: The NCATE/TEAC design team released a draft agreement for the merger of NCATE and TEAC into one accrediting body – Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP). This merger document, which includes new CAEP standards, outlines the framework or structure of the new organization and the timeline in which the changes will take place.
